Top Benefits of Dry Brushing

Updated: Sep 7, 2020

Dry brushing is the juice cleanse of the beauty world. Dry brushing is a combination of exfoliation and massage that involves taking a dry brush and moving it over your body in slow, circular motions two to three times a week. This gives your skin a thorough exfoliation while the pressure helps to stimulate your circulation and lymphatic drainage, which in turn is supposed to help the body eliminate toxins. This new habit is something that you can implement into your morning or evening routine that will have some impactful benefits.

Our bodies are continuously filtering through toxins. The average woman is exposed to about 500 toxic chemicals throughout each day from your personal care products, to your cleaning products, to the air, to the water, and sometimes in the food that we're eating. Some of those things we can limit but we're still going to get bombarded by some things that we just can't avoid.

Let’s talk about some of the benefits of dry brushing. Have you ever had swollen lymph nodes? Dry brushing can help stimulate your lymphatic system and help your body filter off the toxins more efficiently. Another benefit is exfoliation. The bristles of the brush help clean your pores, and smaller pores help with the appearance of your skin. Also, dry brushing will decrease the appearance of your cellulite. Who doesn’t want that? And lastly, dry brushing can stimulate your nerves and give you a natural energy boost.

One last bonus tip- you can add essential oils to your brush. There are four oils that I rotate through to get an impact with my dry brushing. First is Cypress, this will help with circulation along the skin and help with the appearance of your skin. It’s also calming and assists with circulation. Second is Frankincense, this will help keep your cells healthy. The last two oils are Grapefruit and Slim & Sassy Metabolic Blend, these address the issues of cellulite. Just be careful with these two oils in the summertime or if you are going to be out in the sun later that day because they can be photosensitive.
