Have you ever thought that being an entrepreneur was only for a "special group of superheroes"? 🦸🏻♀️
Today we're going to break down what qualities and character traits make up a successful entrepreneur, and you might be surprised to find out if you make the cut or not. In fact, I'm going to share 15 signs that you might be an entrepreneur and 7 signs that you're not cut out to be an entrepreneur - like ever. 😉
Sometimes you hear stories about people going out on their own and making a difference in the world. 🌍Other times you see your friends selling things online and wish you find a way to create an income, but you don't like being salesy. 🙅🏻♀️You start thinking to yourself that you just don't have what it takes.
But I'm here to tell you not to listen to that voice in your head. 🗣Instead, let's get an objective standard that we can use to measure our potential success.
Here are some of the signs that you might be an entrepreneur:
you used to sell things as a kid
the idea of a 9-5 job totally turns you off
you love new ideas
you dislike the traditional educational system
you love independence
you feel compelled to help others
you want to be a part of a team
you're hungry for greater opportunity
you crave flexibility and spontaneity
you love growth
you want to create a lasting legacy
you see opportunities where others see problems
you're willing to take risks
you attend personal development seminars
you're willing to work more hours for yourself than someone else
If you can say "YES" to any of these statements, and especially if you score in the majority, you MIGHT be an entrepreneur
What about some signs that you are NOT cut out to be an entrepreneur??
multiple failures without any success scare you
you like to stay in your comfort zone
you think it's a path to quick money
you're a procrastinator
you don't know how to create a marketing strategy
you can't think of any problems to solve
you make a lot of plans but don't take action
you get along with everyone

Let's doTERRA-ify this a bit!
Alright.... grab an oil and let's add them in:
Identify the signs that you might be an OIL-preneur IF:
you choose natural health as the first option
you feel called to be a natural solutions provider
you frequently share the benefits the oils have given you or your family
you panic if you leave your oils at home
you're open to taking control of your financial health
you have oils with you almost at all times
you're known as the neighborhood witch doctor
if dōTERRA BOGO week is a bigger celebration than your anniversary or child's birthday
your favorite quote is "I've got an oil for that!"
What do you think - are you an OIL-preneur??!!
I know what you’re thinking. Right now, you think you’re somewhere in the middle. You feel like there are some things about the first group that resonates, but there are a few of the parts of the second group that some people might use to describe you too.
So what do you do about being stuck in the middle?
When I think about this, it takes me back about 7 years, when Jim and I had a few conversations about whether we were going to try to take a leap and start a business of our own. It’s an understatement to say that we had some concerns.
Jim had a busy job. And we had young kids. Noah was 3 years old, and Asher and Micah were under a year. If I looked at us at that time, then looked at the lists we just went through, I’m not completely sure we would have said WE were entrepreneurs.
In fact, if I’m being completely honest, between me and Jim, we check off every one of the “Not an entrepreneur” boxes. It’s honestly a little comical. But the one thing we did have was a desire to help people, and a dream of changing our lives.
Now, by God’s amazing grace, and with the help of a business plan that you have to see to believe, we have a 7-year-old company that has served THOUSANDS of people across the world.
So how did we make it? Well, to be honest, dōTERRA is the perfect blend of all the things you want as an entrepreneur, but all of the things you need if you don’t feel like one. (It's a ripple effect with a God-given mission at the core, sprinkled with the qualities I share in the graphic below.)
We always tell people that you’re in business FOR yourself, but not BY yourself. Our company has a built-in support network. What that means for you is that we provide you with the support and accountability you need and the freedom you’ve been looking for.
If you want to know more about starting a business of your own then I'm going to ask you to take a baby step and reach out to me. This isn’t you agreeing to that you’ll start a business, or host a class, or do anything else. All I’m asking is for you to tell me that you want to know more.
